Christmas
Christmas is probably the most photographed holiday - after Mardi Gras, of course ;^), but nothing will ever compete with sex, as we all know. I think Baltimore's 'Miracle on 34th Street' certainly is a sight to see for all and I try not to miss it most years, but I also find myself clicking away elsewhere during the Holidays. I hope that my commonplace reflex captures some less commonplace moments and places to bring back the spirit on the warm sunny days to come.

Santacon : Boston 2009

The Boston Santacon kicked off at the Purple Shamrock. Red, white and green people gethered until gaining the momentum to launch onto the streets and into more pubs, restaurants and the subway.

Santa's Helpers | 2008-10-31

I thought the reason for me not getting any presents over several Christmases was that I did not make the list. It is no great consolation to know that I likely made it onto the list, even through the second check, because Christmas is all about the presents, isn't it?

Yet, if i were Santa and had the helpers pictured here, I would, too miss some deliveries.

Christmas Eve Dinner | 2007-12-24

Breaking with the tradition to decorate our tree on Christmas Eve, we remained true to our customary fish dinner. The rockfish turned out excellent, as did the saffron risotto. Still, the prize had to go to the chocolate madeleines. Lesson learnt: no more half bottles of champagne; go for full to magnum next time ;^)

Finishing Touches | 2007-12-21

Traditionally, we've been decorating our tree on Christmas Eve. This year, however, we were given a tree way sooner, and although the tree still spend a formidable amount of time laying around in solitude on our porch, we finally lit up the house and the tree on the day of Winter Solstice . . .

Prudential Center | 2006-12-07

It took three days to accomplish it, but in the end I was allowed to take a panorama inside the Prudential Center, courtesy of Boston Properties. Sadly, I was not allowed to do it while the place is busy, but trust me: it gets pretty crowded.

It was a challenging shoot, on the account of not being able to pick the optimal time, and so the outside was super bright making for an extreme-contrast-situation, and the fact that I only had a few minute break to get it done.

I hope, nevertheless, you get the awesomeness of the glass roof and skyscrapers visible through them pierced by the oversized xmas ornaments.

A rather effective way of turning an otherwise quite ordinary mall into a memorable visit.

Hubcap Christmas Tree, Baltimore | 2005-12-20

Here it is, Christmas again. I am nowhere with decorating our house yet, but we Baltimoreans are lucky: 34th Street does it for us. We can always take the kids and the guests to see the miraculous creations there. The Hubcap Christmas Tree never tires, nor fails to amaze.

34th Street Miracle of Lights - Baltimore | 2004-12-12

What can I say? They like lights. They like lights a lot. But here you can also see three sets of trains running around, one of which actually enters the living room off the porch before it comes out to complete its loop.

Merry Chrismas!
